Coaches and Staff
 Ron Kuhl: Hockey/Professional Instructor-- Vice President of Operation for Athletic Republic and Hockey Hut. Ron has been dedicating himself to the year-round development of our area players for over 15yrs. with outstanding success. He possesses a strong commitment to the complete development of our youth not only as players, but as young people. Ron spent 5 seasons as the Varsity Head Coach at Christian Brothers Academy. From 2002-2008 Ron led the Brothers to a 69-54-11 record, 1 Independent Division Title, 5 Section II semi-finals appearances, 2 Section II Finals appearances, 2 NYS Tournament appearances, 1 player of the year, 10 1st team all-stars, 4 2nd team all-stars, 7 honorable mentions and a 2005-2006 CDHSHL Coach of the Year Award. Prior to his time at CBA, Ron spent 5 seasons at Hudson Valley Community College. His resume includes HVCC Head Coach-2001 NJCAA National Coach of the Year and the coach of the 2000-01 NJCAA National Champion Vikings. Ron is a successful youth hockey coach in the Jr River Rats AAA program, his teams have achieved great success through the years winning championships at the State levels. Players that Ron has trained have gone on to play at Holy Cross, Brown, Boston University, Clarkson, Middlebury, University of New Hampshire, and many more. Ron is a natural leader, motivator and excellent teacher of the fundamentals necessary to excel. Ron received his B.A. Marketing/Business degree from Souther New Hampshire University in 1992.
Bill Lubin: Professional Instructor for EXCEL Hockey Inc. for Athletic Republic and the Hockey Hut. He has been actively involved with players from all levels for 10 years as an instructor with EXCEL Hockey Inc. Bill is an exceptional teacher of fundamental skills and how those skills fit into the game as a whole. Bill is currently a head coach in the Jr. River Rats program. Bill is a graduate of SUNY Cortland '03. Before attending Cortland Bill played two seaons for the CD Slects Jr. A team (EJHL).
Josh Coyle: Professional Instructor for Hockey Hut. Josh played 4 years at Division I Union College. Before Union, Josh grew up playing at the highest levels of youth hockey in Cleveland. From there he moved onto play for the Pittsburgh Forge in the North American Hockey League as well as the Souix Indians. After his strong career in the NAHL he then moved into the Eastern Jr Hockey League for the powerhouse New Hampshire Monarchs. Josh now lives here in Clifton Park New York.
Tim Gerrish: Professional Overspeed Goaltending Instructor for EXCEL Hockey, Inc. He possesses vast experience that includes coaching at the Olympic, National and Collegiate levels. Tim is currently involved as a coach with Skidmore College's Men's Hockey team. Previously, he was the head coach of the Union College Women's team (Div. 1 ECACHL). Since 2001, Tim has been involved as a coach with the Women's Olympic and National teams. Prior to this he was the head coach of the Men's and Women's teams at North Country Community College. In 2002 Tim was inducted into the NJCAA Ice Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame. In 1996 he received the Walter Yaciuk award from USA Hockey, and in 1995 was NJCAA, Eastern Junior College League, and Region III Coach of the Year. Tim attended Elmira College where he earned a B.S. in Liberal Arts.
Mike Ricupero: Mike has been with EXCEL for our summer programs for over 7 years and is the Head Coach of the Saratoga High School Varsity Hockey team. Mike was also the assistant at CBA for 3 seasons. Mike is a graduate of SUNY Cortland and is a NYS Certified PE teacher currently working full-time in the Saratoga School District. Mike has 3 years of college hockey under his belt both at HVCC and Cortland. We're very happy to have Mike as part of our staff on a full time basis now. Mike brings a great amount of energy to the ice and his experience at the college level enhances his understanding of what it takes to make it to the next level.
Scott Louis: Scott has been working our summer camps for 7 years. Scott is currently in his fourth season as the assistant coach for Shenendehowa Varsity Ice Hockey. He played 4 years at SUNY Cortland and was the Captain during the 2002-2003 season. Scott graduated from Cortland and is a Certified NYS PE Teacher currently working in the Shenendehowa School District. We are very pleased to have Scott steadily involved at The Hut where he brings a very dedicated aspect of the game to his lessons.
